Our Concrete Driveway Replacement Process

A driveway doesn't fail because of bad luck—it fails because of shortcuts. At JW Concrete, we believe homeowners should understand what actually goes into a quality driveway replacement, not just see the finished surface. Our process is straightforward, disciplined, and built around doing the fundamentals right.

Step 1: Remove the Existing Driveway

We start by removing the old concrete completely. This allows us to see what's really happening underneath and address issues instead of pouring over problems. Shortcut crews rush this step. We don't.

Step 2: Base Preparation (Where Quality Is Won or Lost)

The base is the foundation of your driveway. We take the time to:

  • Address soft or unstable areas

  • Build the base correctly

  • Compact it properly- This step matters more than anything else—and it's where most driveway failures begin when corners are cut.

Step 3: Reinforcement With Purpose

Reinforcement isn't about throwing material in and hoping for the best. It's placed intentionally to help control movement and support the concrete as it handles seasonal stress.

Step 4: Pouring & Finishing the Concrete

We pour high-strength concrete and finish it clean:

  • Straight edges

  • Smooth transitions

  • Proper slope for drainage

This is where experience shows.

Step 5: Control Joints & Cure

Concrete will move. Control joints help guide that movement so cracks happen where they're supposed to. We place them deliberately—not randomly or rushed.

What "No Shortcuts" Actually Means

"No shortcuts" isn't a slogan—it's a work ethic. It means:

  • Taking the time to prep correctly

  • Not skipping steps to move faster

  • Treating your driveway like it's our own

That’s how driveways last.
